Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Concept Artist at Terahard Ltd. As a Concept Artist at Terahard Studios, you will play a key role in establishing the visual foundation for our games. You’ll work closely with the Art Lead to define the tone, ambiance, and overall visual identity of our projects, contributing to the development of characters, environments, UI elements, and marketing illustrations. Your work will serve as the guiding reference for the entire artistic team, ensuring that everyone shares a cohesive vision as we bring our games to life.


You’ll balance artistic creativity with technical considerations to refine your concepts into detailed illustrations, while also contributing to the design of user interfaces that enhance the player experience. Additionally, you will support the marketing team by producing eye-catching visuals for promotional materials.


What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate on Vision:
  • Work with the Art Lead to develop the overall visual direction for the game, setting the tone, atmosphere, and emotional contrasts for key moments and locations.
  • Concept Creation:
  • Produce quick sketches and iterations to explore ideas, whether for characters, environments, or UI components, based on creative briefs and references—or entirely from scratch.
  • UI & UX Design:
  • Design visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces that align with the game's art direction while ensuring smooth integration with the gameplay experience.
  • Marketing Illustrations:
  • Create polished, high-quality illustrations for use in marketing materials, including promotional art, key visuals, and other assets that help convey the game’s style and attract players.
  • Feedback & Iteration:
  • Present concepts to the artistic team and collaborate with other artists and departments to refine your designs, adapting them based on feedback from the Art Lead and technical constraints.
  • Technical & Artistic Balance:
  • Ensure your concepts strike a balance between artistic flair and the technical requirements of game production, considering performance limitations and practical constraints.
  • Refinement:
  • Develop rough concepts into highly detailed illustrations, providing comprehensive references for the production team and bringing ideas to a refined level of polish.


Required Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Concept Artist in the gaming industry or a related field, with a portfolio that demonstrates expertise in character and environment design, UI/UX, and marketing illustrations.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in digital art tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or equivalent software. Familiarity with UI/UX design software and 3D tools (e.g., Blender, ZBrush) is a plus.

Versatility:

  • A strong ability to work in various visual styles, adapting to the specific needs of different projects, whether stylized or realistic.

Collaboration:

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, able to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team of designers, developers, and artists.

UI/UX Knowledge:

  • An understanding of UI/UX principles and the ability to design interfaces that are both functional and visually integrated into the game's art direction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unity and integrating UI elements directly into the game engine.
  • Experience creating motion graphics or animations for UI is a plus.
  • A strong understanding of storytelling through concept art and illustrations, with the ability to evoke narrative and emotion.
