Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Cambridge

Salary: Up to £60,000

About the Role

Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy, is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Cambridge office. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across the commercial, residential, healthcare, and industrial sectors, contributing to innovative and sustainable design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership: Deliver detailed electrical designs, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, security systems, and renewable energy solutions, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage electrical engineering projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Technical Oversight: Review and approve designs and calculations from junior engineers to ensure quality.
  • Mentorship: Support the development of junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Sustainability: Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable practices into all project designs.
  • Site Support: Attend client meetings and site visits to ensure alignment between design and implementation.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Chartered Engineer status preferred or working towards it).
  • Proven experience in electrical design within a consultancy or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., BS 7671, Building Regulations).
  • Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, and Dialux.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and lead project teams.
  • A passion for sustainability and experience with renewable energy technologies is desirable.
