About PEBL:


We are a community interest company dedicated to protecting, monitoring and cultivating native marine organisms

The candidate will be working along side a small engineering team developing marine electronics and remote monitoring systems including environmental systems, cameras and web applications.

We are seeking someone to take on a range of computer programming tasks including embedded systems engineering and full-stack software engineering.


Key roles include:


  • Working with in-house design engineer and external electrical engineering team
  • Design and engineering of electrical systems (mostly C/C++ / Python)
  • Developing and testing of environmental sensors and imaging systems (developed on SBCs)
  • Interfacing sensor and camera devices with a cloud server (GCP / AWS)
  • Design and implementing an interactive web-app that allows for 2-way communication with remote devices.


Experience level:


  • Open to all experience levels.
  • Has completed or is about to complete computer science, physics, or equivalent engineering degree
  • Has some experience working in a commercial setting.


Skills:


  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication.


Location:


  • Can work remote but is able to meet with electrical and mechanical team based in Swansea / Bristol on a regular basis.


Contract:


  • Salary based on level of experience.
  • Working 2days/week (Senior level), up to 5days/week (Junior level) depending on experience level.
  • Initially to work with team on a paid mini-project (a few hours) to determine whether candidate is a good fit.
  • On successful mini-project to work on 6-month contract.
  • Option to go from 6-month contract to long-term employment.
  • Can start immediately.
