Our client is a leading fintech company dedicated to empowering small businesses by providing fast, flexible finance solutions.

The Role

As an Interim Legal Counsel, you will support the legal team with overflow work, providing expert guidance on a range of commercial, regulatory, and corporate matters. This is an opportunity to work flexibly while contributing to a fast-moving fintech environment. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will assist in ensuring compliance, managing legal risk, and supporting strategic initiatives.

Your Responsibilities

  • Commercial & Contract Support: Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements, including supplier contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Provide guidance on regulatory obligations, including FCA requirements, data protection laws, and financial services regulations.
  • Corporate & Governance Support: Assist with corporate governance, policy development, and internal risk management frameworks.
  • Dispute Resolution & Risk Management: Advise on legal risks and help manage potential disputes and regulatory investigations.
  • General Advisory: Provide ad hoc legal advice to business stakeholders on various matters, ensuring that legal considerations are embedded in decision-making.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 5+ years PQE (in-house or private practice experience in financial services preferred).
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance legal risk with business needs.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment (fintech or financial services experience is a plus).
  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
