London Area, United Kingdom CloudNC Full time

The Role:

We've successfully established a robust platform for our software engineering teams to execute secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant high-performance computing workloads. Now, as we prepare to scale exponentially and introduce a series of new products to market, we are seeking a proactive Technical Infrastructure Manager to lead a team of two principal-level engineers. This role requires a dynamic individual who can foster collaboration across multiple teams, exhibit strong leadership, and embrace our culture of autonomy. As a key contributor to our small but versatile team, you'll play a vital role in various areas of interest.

The infrastructure platform:

Our infrastructure team is at the core of CloudNC, responsible for the fundamental compute platform. We leverage AWS as our cloud provider, manage infrastructure with Terraform, deploy Docker images on AWS ECS, utilize Packer and Ansible for EC2 instance image creation, and support self-hosted Gitlab CI and Kubernetes-based CI/CD platforms. Additionally, we provide crucial support to application development teams, offering expertise in cloud architecture and build pipelines.

Role Duties:

  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership for the infrastructure team.
  • Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines with development teams.
  • Influence application architecture decisions.
  • Assist application development teams in debugging production issues.
  • Develop infrastructure as code, ranging from small proof-of-concepts to large-scale features, migrations, and critical production applications.
  • Manage infrastructure for 3rd party on-premises tooling (e.g., Sentry).

Skills and Experience sought:

  • Proven experience in people management with a focus on coaching and development.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools, specifically Terraform, Ansible/Packer.
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab CI, Travis CI, Circle CI, or Github Actions).
  • Familiarity with AWS-based software architecture deployments, including the use of container technologies (e.g., ECS, EKS).
  • Collaboration with diverse stakeholders within the engineering team, such as software developers, data scientists, product managers, and business analysts.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest cloud technologies and evaluating their suitability for our environment.

Desirable:

  • Passion for scale-up/start-ups and digital innovation.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical capabilities to define and agree on company priorities.
  • Delivery orientated mindset.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for continuous improvement and lifelong learning.

What you will receive…

  • In return for your efforts supporting our mission, you will receive the following benefits & perks
  • Competitive Salary
  • Stock Options
  • Private Healthcare
  • Pension
  • 28 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Monthly Lunches
  • Team Socials
  • ThanksBen Benefit - £50 per month
