We are on the lookout for a dynamic Engineering Manager to join our multi-site team at the Wellingborough site, where we are a spice, herbs and seasoning food manufacturing company with a flour milling facility supplying to both retail consumers and manufacturing companies.
In this role, you'll lead a talented team of engineers, spearheading continuous improvement projects, overseeing preventative maintenance schedules, projects and ensuring we meet all industry regulations. This is an exciting chance for a passionate engineering leader to make a significant impact at a thriving company in the food manufacturing industry.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and manage the engineering team, providing direction, training, and support to ensure optimal performance.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of all manufacturing equipment and facilities.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime and ensure efficient production.
- Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain and finance teams to enhance process efficiency and product quality.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental policies.
- Manage engineering projects from conception through to completion, including budgeting, planning, and execution.
- Monitor and control engineering spend, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Analyse production data to identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team and across the multi-site operations.
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services and materials.
Skills And Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or similar field) or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in an engineering management role within the food or drink manufacturing industry is desirable.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in manufacturing
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
- Positive mindset with can do attitude.
