BUDISM COUTURE creates couture gowns of the highest level of artisanship and uncompromising luxury in its own Maison in Cape Town / South Africa for a global clientele.


Every inch of our gowns and dresses breathes refinement through the hands of skilled seamstresses and embroiderers. Their intricate and precise manual needlework brings each creation to life. We work directly with leading embroidery ateliers, artisans and fabric suppliers in France and Italy.


While our business is modern and personal in approach, the care, originality and savoir faire we lavish on our creations remain true to the centuries-old tradition of haute couture.


For our Atelier in Cape Town / South Africa we are looking to hire a


Haute Couture Dressmaker (3-6 months)


This opportunity would appeal to candidates who are looking for a career break, enjoy a working holiday abroad or South African nationals looking to return home.


South African visa regulations allow for a 3 month work visa with a 3 month extension. Subsequent full-time employment is possible, subject to work visa.


Profile

  • Proven professional experience of over 5 years in haute couture tailoring for the creation of coats, jackets, pants, skirts; or in haute couture flou dedicated to the making of exceptional dresses
  • Initial training in a recognized fashion school
  • In-depth technical knowledge of garment construction
  • Must have an eye for detail and strive for perfection.
  • Autonomy, flexibility, curiosity and open-mindedness
  • Passion for this profession, ability to take on technical challenges
  • Strong sense of responsibility, precision, with significant sensitivity to the quality of the result
  • Dynamic, with very good interpersonal skills, team spirit, ability to work in a young, dynamic multicultural team.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Cape Town for the duration of the contract.
  • Fluency in English is essential, French or Italian advantageous.
