We are currently seeking an ambitious Support Engineer to work with our exceptional client in a secure environment, supporting challenging and highly rewarding projects. This contract role will require you to pass security clearance prior to assignment and is based in Milton Keynes. The contract is 5 days a week onsite.


The Support Engineer provides Technical Support on projects at various stages in the system development lifecycle ranging from assisting in the design of the solution through to implementation.


The Support Engineer is a member of the business unit/ mission area who provides Application Support services on a range of systems typically involving:

• Service request fulfilment

• Incident/Problem/Configuration/Change Management

• Application Monitoring and Tuning

• System Administration and Application Upgrades

• Patching

• Software and infrastructure enhancements


Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Support Engineer’s main Duties and Responsibilities are:

• Building Assurance Activities

• Operational Acceptance Testing

• Monitoring and Tuning

• Architecture/Solution Designing

• Troubleshooting/Resolving implementation issues

• Producing and maintaining any associated documentation.


Person Specification

Essential Skills are:

• Technical/IT support background

• Excellent communication skills with an ability to convey technical information to both a technical and non-technical audience

• RHEL and MS Windows Server Operation

• MS IIS and Apache Tomcat web servers

• SQL, Bash/Shell, MS Powershell/DOS scripting

• MS SQL and Oracle databases

• MS Excel and Access developed solutions

• Applications developer in .NET and Java

• Networking and security e.g. DNS/TCP-IP/NFS/SAMBA/Web Protocols/SSL/TLS/Certificates

• Web and multi-tiered architectures



• Customer and service delivery focused
