Overview
The Systems and Platform Architecture team is looking for a Storage and Backup architect to design and provide oversight for Storage & Backup solutions through all stages of the development life cycle from bid, concept through architecture, design, build, test and delivery into production.
Role

Typically, the role will require the holder to:

• Produce High Level Designs for Storage and Backup infrastructure solutions.
• Maintain the technology roadmap for storage and backup in line with end of support dates.
• Work closely with cross functional teams including Delivery, Engineering and Operations.
• Ensure that new solutions conform to policies and standards and meet defined non-functional requirements for performance, scalability, availability, security and manageability.
• Identify, assess and communicate technical risks to the Business and Operations.
• Evaluate products for project and future usage and take responsibility for trialling new technologies.

All About You
Essential:
• Indepth knowledge of enterprise storage arrays and enterprise backup appliances
• Indepth knowledge of SAN technologies (Brocade Switches / FOS / SAN Fabrics)
• Significant experience in a demanding, high availability environment
• Proven experience of delivering complex technical designs and architectures
• Ability to present complex technical information to both a technical and non-technical audience.
• Flexibility to take on new products, services, strategies and ways of working.

• A clear understanding of how non-functional requirements such as performance and availability are delivered by a technology solution.
Desirable:
• Experience with Pure and DELL enterprise storage Arrays
• Experience with DELL DataDomain & ECS Appliances
• Experience with Veritas Backup Appliances and NetBackup
• IT Security experience
• Unix scripting
