Due to a number of new clients and some exciting growth in our business, we are looking for experienced and proactive Senior Consultants (x2) to join our team.


The Role

Our Senior Consultants sit at the centre of WPI Strategy and are genuinely senior members of the team, working closely with Directors and Associate Directors to lead and drive the delivery of our client work. 


They are responsible for ensuring that client teams deliver excellent results, impact and quality for our clients. This includes shaping the development of innovative and insightful client work, leading on day-to-day client work and supporting clients, and managing a number of client teams to ensure delivery and results.


They enjoy taking on challenges and think strategically. They are politically switched on, enjoy growing their networks across political, media and business, and are intellectually curious. They help us identify and understand the trends and developments that matter to our clients.


Senior Consultants also have an important role in supporting and helping develop junior colleagues, including taking line management responsibilities. 


Job Specification

 

Expertise

  • At least 3-5 years' experience in a consultancy, public affairs, political/policy environment. 
  • An excellent understanding of the UK political, business and media environment in general, and demonstrable expertise in one or more sectors relevant to clients
  • Experienced in taking on new and sometimes ambiguous challenges confidently, working at pace and adapting to changing situations
  • Confident in communicating to a range of audiences, including politicians, senior officials and business leaders
  • Experience in writing to an excellent standard for external publication, for a range of needs and audiences, including reports, press releases, op-eds and blog posts
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, including delegating to junior colleagues and managing time effectively to ensure that client work is delivered on time to high standards
  • An active network of business, political and/or media contacts

 

Client and account management

  • Manage client accounts and act as the first point of contact for clients on a day-to-day basis, responding rapidly to client requests
  • Provide clients with political/media intelligence and insight, highlighting any implications for the client’s business
  • Manage account teams and exercise judgement independent of senior management
  • Lead account teams to identify creative ways to deliver client strategies
  • Manage the production and quality of client outputs including reports for publication, strategy documents and campaign plans
  • Manage and conduct research and analysis on political and policy issues relevant to clients
  • Contribute to securing high-impact media coverage for client campaigns and reports
  • Manage the organisation of client events including roundtables, receptions and report launches


New business

  • Actively participate in new business activities including networking and pursuing leads, producing proposal documents and contributing to pitches 
  • Engaged in retaining and growing existing clients and project work 

 

Team management

  • Support junior members of the team, including through line management and reviewing and feeding back on their work
