We are looking for a Head of Data to lead and mentor a small, talented data team in the reinsurance industry. This hands-on role is perfect for a Lead Data Engineer looking to take the next step in their career. The role will focus on building and optimising data infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Azure technology stack solutions.


What You’ll Be Doing:


  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable data solutions using the Azure tech stack, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Synapse.
  • Build and maintain a robust data warehouse to store, process, and organize large sets of reinsurance data.
  • Work closely with the data team, offering hands-on support with coding, building pipelines, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Develop and optimize ETL pipelines to integrate data from various internal and external sources.
  • Work directly with business teams to ensure the data team is meeting the company’s day-to-day needs for reporting, analysis, and data-driven insights.
  • Ensure the data systems are optimised for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.


You’ll Thrive If You Have:


  • Extensive experience as a Lead Data Engineer, with deep expertise in Azure technologies (Data Factory, Synapse, SQL, etc.).
  • Excellent understanding of the reinsurance industry.
  • Strong experience in designing and building data warehouses and ETL pipelines.
  • A hands-on approach, with a desire to stay involved in the technical build and development.
  • Experience managing small teams, with a focus on mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment and solve complex data problems.
