Our client is seeking a motivated and skilled Junior Shift Trader to join their dynamic team trading power and gas on the intraday, day ahead markets. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in generating returns, optimizing, and managing the balancing mechanism for energy generation operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute trades to maximize profitability and minimize risks within designated energy markets.
  2. Analyze market trends and developments to identify trading opportunities and inform decision-making processes.
  3. Collaborate with senior traders and analysts to develop and implement effective trading strategies.
  4. Monitor and manage the balancing mechanism to ensure optimal energy generation and distribution.
  5. Maintain accurate records of trading activities and performance metrics for reporting purposes.
  6. Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry developments affecting energy trading activities.
  7. Work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  8. Participate in training and development activities to enhance trading skills and knowledge.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in shift trading on the intraday, day ahead power and/or gas market.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Technical capabilities are beneficial such as Python or SQL .
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and trading software platforms.
  • Knowledge of energy markets, regulations, and industry dynamics.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
