We are currently working with a blue-chip construction company. They are looking for a junior construction counsel to support their growing team in London.


Role:

  • Junior/mid-level Commercial Construction Lawyer;
  • NQ-3 years’ experience in a legal role (PQE for guidance only);
  • Support to Construction, globally, where needed;
  • Can consider flexible and agile working, based in Waterloo, London.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out review, negotiation and drafting of contracts and legal agreements for business projects, under supervision where required.
  • Advise on arising issues, insured risks and commercial queries, under supervision where required.
  • Delivery of training programmes to the business on legal and contractual risks and issues.
  • Updating precedents and templates. Contribute to processes and improved ways of working.
  • Work closely with insurance brokers and occasionally with external counsel on any arising issues.
  • Support compliance with compliance, ethics, GDPR, health, and safety regulations.


Experience and competencies:

  • Qualified lawyer in England & Wales or any relevant jurisdiction.
  • Technical legal knowledge and commercial understanding of the construction industry.
  • Working knowledge of industry forms of contract, e.g., Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) and New Engineering Contract (NEC)
  • Familiar with concepts around construction project insurances and management of claims.
  • Legal professional standard of English (written and spoken).
  • Good negotiation skills.
