Control Systems Engineer

I'm looking for a Control Systems Engineer to join our client in Sudbury. This role will consist of being on the road (UK and overseas) from 30% - 50% of the time. In order to be considered, you must have experience in writing PLC programmes with either Siemens or Allen Bradley.
Responsibilities of this Control Systems Engineer role:
- Coordinate and execute equipment start-ups, technical service calls, and related activities (including reports).
- Design customer-specific control systems (both pneumatic and electric), including the creation of Bills of Materials and PLC programming. Typical I/O range: 6-13.
- Conduct equipment and application testing as part of project execution.
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support to both customers and in-house engineering/project teams.
- Support project execution by specifying parts and liaising with suppliers.
- Communicate with customers regarding their control system requirements.
- Prepare site visit reports and maintain up-to-date in-house databases.
- Contribute to proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Basic mechanical skills with a general interest in mechanical systems and problem-solving.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (30%-50% of the time).
- Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic circuits.
- Familiarity with PLC programming (Siemens or Allen Bradley preferred, training provided).
- Ability to read AutoCAD drawings.
- Proficient computer skills (AutoCAD and Microsoft Office are advantageous).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical know-how and ability to apply relevant codes to tasks and problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently, guided by knowledge of equipment, company policies, and procedures.
- Capable of initiating activity, managing multiple projects, and meeting targets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an energetic and positive personality.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet time-sensitive targets.
- Strong service orientation and actively seeks ways to assist customers and staff.
- Full, clean driving license
Experience & Education:
- HND / HNC in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical degree.
- Experience in designing control systems
- You must have experience in writing PLC programmes with either Siemens or Allen Bradley
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a technical role, ideally in machinery maintenance.
- Training will be provided to enhance your skills further.
Benefits:
- Basic Salary: £55,000 - £55,000
- Paid Overtime which can take your earnings to £60,000+
