The Opportunity
A highly regarded international law firm is looking to hire a Corporate Finance Associate (2+ PQE) to join its growing City-based Corporate team. The firm is a recognised market leader, ranked Tier 1 for upper mid-market M&A, and plays a major role in public takeovers and equity capital markets transactions. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative, high-performing environment with access to industry-leading partners and top-tier deals.
The Role
This role offers a broad scope of corporate finance work, with a strong focus on equity capital markets (ECM), public takeovers, and strategic M&A. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute both technical expertise and commercial insight, working with high-profile clients across key sectors, including financial services, technology, energy, and consumer markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting on complex corporate finance transactions, including public takeovers, IPOs, secondary fundraisings, and M&A.
- Navigating and advising on UK regulatory frameworks, including the UK Listing and Prospectus Regulation Rules, Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules, and the Takeover Code.
- Managing relationships with listed companies, investment banks, and financial institutions.
- Supporting business development efforts, participating in pitches, and helping to grow the firm's corporate finance practice.
- Collaborating with colleagues across Corporate, Finance, Regulatory, and other practice areas to deliver seamless service to clients.
- Mentoring junior lawyers, supervising trainees and paralegals, and working closely with senior colleagues to drive key workstreams.
Key Requirements
- 2+ years PQE, with experience in corporate finance transactions at a leading law firm.
- Proven track record advising UK corporate clients on IPOs, secondary fundraisings, and takeovers.
- Strong knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks, including the UK Listing Rules, Prospectus Regulation Rules, and Takeover Code.
- Excellent technical, drafting, and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead transactions and liaise confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Commercially minded, with a strong interest in business development and growing client relationships.
- A collaborative approach, with experience mentoring junior associates and trainees.
