Public Health Consultants - Population Health & Commissioning and Prevention


Start Date: ASAP

Rate: £900 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)

Location: East of England

Duration: 6 months initially

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Flexible Hybrid Working Available


Our client is seeking two dedicated Public Health Consultants to join their team in the East of England, each focusing on key areas of Public Health: Population Health/Public Health Intelligence and Commissioning and Prevention.


Role 1: Public Health Consultant - Population Health/Public Health Intelligence

In this role, you will lead efforts to improve population health through innovative approaches in population health intelligence and management. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership: Guide the Public Health Intelligence Team, driving system-wide approaches to enhance health and reduce inequalities
  • Strategic Impact: Deliver influential Joint Strategic Needs Assessments, shaping actions across the Health and Wellbeing Board and Integrated Care Partnership
  • Crisis Response: Develop and maintain systems to effectively respond to health protection threats and major incidents
  • Cross-Directorate Collaboration: Work across all organisational levels to maximise health improvement opportunities, ensuring equitable health outcomes for current and future generations


Role 2: Public Health Consultant - Commissioning and Prevention

In this role, you will provide strategic leadership in improving health outcomes through robust commissioning and effective prevention strategies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Outcome Delivery: Act as a change agent to achieve key indicators from public health, NHS, and social care frameworks
  • Strategic Leadership: Lead efforts to reduce health inequalities and improve wellbeing through population-level prevention and service commissioning
  • Cross-Organisational Influence: Collaborate across organisations, influence budget decisions, and advocate for systemic change
  • Service Management: Potentially oversee services and budgets directly contributing to health improvement objectives


Requirements for Both Roles:

  • Professional Standards: Meet CPD requirements as per FPH or another recognised body
  • Registration: Must be on the General Medical Council (GMC), General Dental Council (GDC), or UK Public Health (Specialist) Register, with a license to practice
