About the job:

We are currently partnered with a growing Financial Services company, who are looking for an experienced Principal Database Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of their database solutions. Our client is looking for someone hands on, who has a proven track record driving and implementing cloud-based database strategies (MS SQL Server AWS RDS), optimising performance, and ensuring security and scalability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect & Optimise: Design and implement high-performance database solutions on AWS RDS.
  • Cloud Migrations: Lead the transition from MS SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS.
  • Performance Tuning: Analyse and optimise database performance, queries, and indexing strategies.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure databases meet GDPR & PCI-DSS standards.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor engineers and work cross-functionally with cloud and application teams.



Required Skillset:

  • 5+ years of experience in MS SQL Server database architecture.
  • 2+ years working with AWS RDS for SQL Server.
  • Expertise in T-SQL, performance tuning, HA/DR solutions, and cloud migration.
  • Knowledge of AWS data services (RDS, DynamoDB, S3, OpenSearch, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills.
