Head of Procurement - UK


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Procurement to join our client's team in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading their procurement function, developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives, and driving cost savings while maintaining the highest standards of quality and integrity. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented procurement professional to make a significant impact within a growing organization.


The business is a pan European manufacturing/Industrial business.


Leading a small team of buyers and spend levels of around £80 - £100mil


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  2. Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance and development.
  3. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and agreements to drive cost savings and mitigate risks.
  4. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain, to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  5. Oversee the procurement process from sourcing and vendor selection to contract negotiation and supplier management.
  6. Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify emerging opportunities and risks, adjusting procurement strategies accordingly.
  7. Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and ethical standards.
  8. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement performance and deliver measurable results.
  9. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, providing insights into procurement performance, cost savings, and key metrics.
  10. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and innovative procurement solutions, exploring opportunities to leverage new tools and methodologies to drive value for the organization.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior procurement leadership role (5+ years at leadership level), with a track record of successfully implementing strategic sourcing initiatives and delivering cost savings.
  • Must come from Manufacturing, Industrial or Construction Industry
  • Strong negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of procurement professionals.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and supplier risk management.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and metrics to drive informed decision-making and measure procurement performance.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) preferred.
  • This is an office based role in Kent with 20% travel
