On behalf of our client, MRG Global is undertaking a confidential search for several exceptional candidates to fill the position of Commercial Director. Our client will visit London to conduct in-person interviews, so this is your chance to get face to face with the hiring team from one of the projects everyone is talking about.


Overview:


Our client is an ambitious, PIF-backed project based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Commercial Director will play a crucial role in overseeing and leading the commercial process for various projects within our client’s delivery function.

Responsibilities:


Financial Management

  1. Budget Management: Developing and managing budgets for construction projects to ensure financial efficiency and profitability.
  2. Cost Control: Implementing and monitoring cost control measures to minimize financial risk and ensure project costs remain within budget.
  3. Forecasting: Preparing financial forecasts and projections to assist in decision-making and strategic planning.

Contract Administration

  1. Contract Negotiation: Leading the negotiation of contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  2. Contract Management: Overseeing the administration of contracts to ensure compliance with terms, timely delivery, and resolution of disputes.
  3. Claims Management: Handling claims for additional costs or extensions of time, ensuring they are substantiated and negotiated effectively.

Project Management

  1. Project Planning: Contributing to project planning and scheduling to align financial and contractual strategies with project timelines.
  2. Risk Management: Identifying and managing financial and contractual risks associated with construction projects.
  3. Resource Allocation: Ensuring appropriate allocation of financial and material resources to meet project requirements.

Team Leadership and Development

  1. Team Leadership: Leading and managing a team of quantity surveyors and commercial professionals, providing guidance and support.

Stakeholder Management

  1. Client Relations: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients to secure repeat business and ensure customer satisfaction.
  2. Supplier and Subcontractor Relations: Establishing and nurturing relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and ensure quality delivery.

Compliance and Reporting

  1. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all financial and contractual activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  2. Reporting: Preparing regular financial and project performance reports for senior management and stakeholders.


Qualifications:


The ideal candidate for the Commercial Director role possesses the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity, demonstrating a track record of success in complex and high-value projects.
