Position Overview:


We are looking for a skilled FinOps Engineer with a strong background in AWS cloud cost management, expertise in tools like QuickSight and Cube Cost, and a deep understanding of cloud financial operations. The ideal candidate will work closely with cloud architects, finance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal usage, cost efficiency, and transparency across our AWS infrastructure.


Responsibilities:


AWS Cost Management:

  • Monitor, analyze, and report AWS cloud usage and spending.
  • Create and maintain cost allocation tags and budgets within AWS.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement recommendations.
  • Manage AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances effectively.


Data Visualization and Reporting:

  • Develop insightful reports and dashboards using QuickSight for real-time tracking of cloud expenses.
  • Integrate Cube Cost to enhance forecasting and budgeting accuracy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide actionable insights.


Financial Operations and Governance:

  • Establish and enforce FinOps best practices and guidelines.
  • Build frameworks to measure unit economics (e.g., cost per user or transaction).
  • Drive accountability by creating transparent chargeback and showback models.


Optimization and Automation:

  • Automate recurring tasks related to cloud cost management.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to optimize AWS resource utilization.
  • Leverage tools for auto-scaling, right-sizing, and lifecycle policies.


Collaboration and Training:

  • Work with finance, product, and engineering teams to align on budgets and forecasts.
  • Educate teams on cost-conscious development and architecture practices.


Qualifications:


Technical Skills:

  • Strong experience with AWS cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor).
  • Proficiency with QuickSight and Cube Cost for reporting and analysis.
  • Familiarity with cloud optimization frameworks and tools like CloudHealth or Spot.io.
  • Knowledge of AWS pricing models, including on-demand, spot, and reserved instances.
  • Expertise in Python, SQL, or similar for scripting and data analysis.


Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on financial efficiency and cloud performance.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across technical and non-technical teams.


Preferred Certifications:

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner
