Teaching Assistant

Location: Barnsley

Salary Scale: £86 to £110 per day

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role:

For a role at one of our client schools in Barnsley, GSL Education is presently looking to hire a trained and motivated Teaching Assistant. You will be vital in helping the school create a welcoming and inclusive learning atmosphere, assisting the instructors, and attending to the various needs of the students. Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons by preparing materials, setting up equipment, and supporting students during activities and group work.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students who require additional help with understanding concepts, completing tasks, or staying focused.
  • Implement positive behavior management strategies to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support teachers in managing classroom behavior by providing reinforcement, redirection, and encouragement to students.
  • Work with teachers to differentiate instruction and adapt learning activities to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Provide support and extension activities to challenge advanced learners and scaffold learning for students who require additional assistance.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within an educational setting.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience when working with students facing academic or behavioral challenges.
  • Hold relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or a related field.
