Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to appoint an Informatics and Data Analyst within the Informatics & Data Services team of Public Health Wales NHS Trust.

The post holder will undertake information management, reporting and analysis duties, as well as provide systems training and support for a wide range of services including Screening and Microbiology.

Main duties of the job

To be considered for the position you will have a degree in a numerate subject or equivalent relevant experience. You will have demonstrable experience of the management and analysis of large datasets together with report generation.

We are looking for a highly computer literate, team focused individual with good organisational and communication skills, who has the ability to work with all types and grades of staff.

Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The post is based at Public Health Wales' headquarters in central Cardiff.

Interviews will be conducted at the Cardiff headquarters.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The informatics team within Public Health Wales has a wide range of service provision across many divisions and specialties. The main purpose of this role is to assist in the production and development of routine monitoring reports, for the purpose of managing and quality assuring services provided by Public Health Wales. In addition, the job requires that the post holder provides training and support to staff using a variety of IT systems, to ensure consistent data entry and data quality.

The post holder will be expected to analyse and provide complex reports and statistical outputs.

Other duties include:

To be responsible for the delivery of appropriate information resources in a timely manner.

To provide IM&T systems training where appropriate and possible within resources.

To test new/amended systems and services prior to User Acceptance testing (UAT).

To assist with the design/specify new or changed services or assist the systems developers to do so.

To assist the Trust with research initiatives with the Informatics team.

Qualifications

Essential

Degree level education or equivalent (or equivalent experience) in an appropriate subject.

Desirable

A level mathematics or statistics or equivalent qualification. Health sciences background.

Experience

Experience of generating reports from the analysis of raw data. Experience of training and support of others. Administrative experience.

Desirable

Experience of working within the health sector.
