Your Opportunity:

Barrhead Pharmacy Production is our North East distribution center providing medication repackaging services of unit dose and patient specific medications for both Acute and Long Term Care patients. The Pharmacy Technician will work under limited supervision of the Operations Manager alongside Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists. This position performs complex aspects of coordinating and maintaining drug distribution, leading and monitoring workflow processes for efficiency, managing perpetual inventory including turnover minimize waste of pharmaceuticals, direct supervision of Pharmacy Assistants, and both repackaging and final checking of medications to ensure safe and quality patient care. Core duties may include, but are not limited to remote and onsite final checking of medications, troubleshooting medication shortages, adhering to scheduled batches with precision, meeting courier deadlines without delay or disruption, leading workload with automated equipment specifically FastPak Elite & Verify, reporting medication errors as per internal processes liaising with manager for root cause analysis, and assisting with training and orientation of staff and students. Participating in special projects and working groups as assigned. Maintaining ordering supplies, department records, and statistics for preparing reports as required. Building interactive relationships members of healthcare teams including respectful communication to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues. Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as final product checking. Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
