BCC is seeking a Business Manager to run their successful Parks Cafés, golf, and concessions operations in Bristol Parks.


The portfolio includes 11 busy cafes & catering kiosks across the city, situated in 7 beautiful parks and green spaces, with the prestigious Ashton Court Estate incorporating the Golf operation. In addition, we have concession pitches which are also spread around the city green spaces and offer a variety of services to customers.


Purpose


You will play a key role in delivering the Operating and business plan, maximizing revenue, leveraging business opportunities, and optimizing operating costs.


You will also provide strategic direction and leadership to your teams and be a trusted business partner to the Senior Leadership team across the council in the process of exploring operating models for the delivery of café services


Reporting Lines


Reporting into the Commercial Manager, and working closely with Parks commercial team, you will bring your expertise to fully manage and support the business whilst being always respectful of the BCC policies and procedures.

Responsibilities and Controlling Activities

Operational activity of all sites Audit and monitoring of concession pitches. Manage the sites financial processes, card, and cash revenue. Prepare departmental strategies and establish effective goals, measurements and action plans as required. Preparation of information for the monthly management accounts including Profit and Loss Account, Stock, Inventory, forecasting, Casual hours and cash and credit revenue information from EPOS. Business partnering effectively with the leadership team to ensure an understanding of departmental financial reporting and other metrics including wage %, GPs and P&Ls. Continuously seeks out areas for improvement to drive operational effectiveness and increase quality within the Park Café Operation. Constantly monitors the latest industry trends, innovative products, and service opportunities. Champions continuous improvement and innovation Works collaboratively with Leadership team ensuring good, timely communication of the operational situation and financial information. Maintains excellent relationships with all the BCC colleagues and stakeholders Actively participate in the development of business strategy in line with The BCCs vision, and business objectives and develop a strategy for growth in the 5–10-year business plan. Assist with the development of the annual budget to monitor progress and present financial metrics.

People Management

Oversee recruitment, for all in line with BCCs policies and related processes. Oversee onboarding to ensure new colleagues feel welcome and team members are prepared for the new arrivals including management within the internal communication network. Oversee the performance management process, in line with BCCs policies and systems. Develops a high performing, empowered team, through inspiring leadership, training, operational management, and succession planning. Fosters a winning, solution-oriented work environment, motivating and engaging colleagues to continuously deliver the best possible standard of work. Promotes an environment of open ongoing feedback and coaching for better performance. Coaches and mentors’ colleagues within the team.


Qualifications

You should have experience of managing a multi-site catering business or in a comparable catering environment and will have a track record of success in a comparable environment.


You must have a degree in Hospitality/Catering or equivalent together with a professional business or accounting qualification or extensive experience in this field, and bring strategic knowledge of the hospitality business and its financial management.

In addition, the following capabilities will be required:
