Job summary

Much Wenlock & Cressage Medical Practice are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, team player to provide maternity cover within our excellent reception team.

The reception cover required is for hours per week over days for a 9 to 12 month period.

Previous experience of working in a GP practice would be advantageous but full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the reception team, you will be the first point of contact for patients providing excellent, confidential, and professional service to patients and clinical staff.

The ideal candidate will be friendly and confident with strengths in accuracy, integrity and confidentiality with good IT and interpersonal communication skills.

Job responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide excellent, confidential and professional service to patients and clinical staff, to ensure the smooth running of reception.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet patients and visitors/health professionals in a courteous and professional manner. Deal with patient and health professional enquiries, as they arise, by phone, electronic communication (text/email) or in person including booking home visits and advising test results within Practice Policy. Booking, amending and cancelling patient appointments, ensuring computerised appointment system is up to date. Registering of new patients ensuring relevant checks are made. Registration of patients for Patient online services. Process requests for repeat prescriptions by phone, post or online within a timely manner to include medicines management administration. Checking in and entering information of drug deliveries on Emis Web. Accessing Shropdoc overnight reports and saving to patient records. Upload documents received via electronic download via Docman. Dealing with and responding to incoming Practice emails/ electronic consultations within the relevant time scale. Open, stamp and distribution of post. Email correspondence when requested adhering to GDPR protocols. Scanning of patient information, workflow through Docman, and actioning of subsequent tasks. Responding to staff/ management/nurse/GP e-mails/screen messages/requests during surgery in a timely manner. Ensure up-to-date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems ( patient notes). Ensure consultation rooms are prepared in readiness for the start of each day and checked at the end of the day leaving them tidy and secure. General housekeeping within the Practice in order to achieve Health and Safety standards, including making GPs/ nurses/admin staff drinks and filling/emptying dishwasher. Open and lock up surgery using Practice opening/closing protocol as required between 0800 and 1830. Work safely at all times in accordance with Legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures. Qualifications

Good standard of general education GCSE English

Desirable

Appropriate qualification in medical reception eg AMSPAR or NVQ in Customer Service GCSE Maths
