Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic dietitian to join our innovative dietetic team at The Royal London Hospital. This post will cover a variety of clinical areas including acute admissions, general medical and care of the elderly wards. You may be asked to cover other specialties as needed. The role will allow you to gain experience working in a busy inpatient setting.

As a Trust, we provide a service to a large multi cultural population and you will be required to provide a service that is appropriate to meet the diverse needs of our patients.

You will be working as part of the Specialist Medicine Dietetic Team. The team consists of x1 band 7, x1 band 6 and x2 band 5 Dietitians.As a Band 5 Dietitian you will work with the dietetic team to provide an effective dietetic service to adult in-patients. This will include working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team. You will manage a caseload of patients requiring predominantly nutrition support using evidence-based practice. You will also be responsible for the safe management of home enteral feeding discharges. You will have the opportunity to undertake audit and service development in your clinical area.

Main duties of the job

You will be working as part of the Specialist Medicine Dietetic Team. The team consists of x1 band 7 Team Lead Dietitian, x2 band 6 Dietitians, and x2 band 5 Dietitians. BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or relevant postgraduate qualification HCPC registered

Desirable criteria

Previous experience working as Dietitian, or Dietetic Assistant Practitioner Previous experience working within the NHS

Clinical experience in acute/ and or community setting Demonstrable experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and understanding team dynamics Documented evidence of commitment to CPD Demonstrable understanding of clinical governance and its relevance to everyday practice Ability to research and interpret literature and apply to own practice to ensure clinical practice is up to date Ability to undertake audit and change practice in accordance to findings

Ability to carry out a dietetic assessment using the ABCDE structure, and devise an appropriate and safe dietetic plan Good organisational and prioritisation skills i.e. managing own workload Ability to demonstrate behaviour change/ motivational interviewing through dietetic consultations Computer Literacy i.e. Microsoft word, Power Point, Excel Excellent oral and written communication skills with people from a variety of backgrounds e.g. via advocacy/interpreters Ability to present complex information to large groups Ability to communicate complex medical conditions in sensitive and easily understandable language
