Role and Responsibilities

As SENCO, you will lead and manage the school’s SEN provision, playing a vital role in supporting the progress and well-being of students with SEMH needs. Your role will include:

  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and targeted support for students with additional needs.
  • Collaborating with teachers, teaching assistants, and external professionals to ensure quality provision and support.
  • Ensuring compliance with SEN policies and the SEND Code of Practice, including appropriate documentation and assessments.
  • Leading staff training and development to promote inclusive, effective teaching strategies.
  • Building positive relationships with parents and caregivers to support student progress both in and out of school.
Essential Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO).
  • Extensive experience working with children with SEN, ideally within SEMH or special school settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A genuine commitment to fostering inclusive, student-centered education.
