Purpose of the Role:

As the Director of Data Science, Analytics, and Visualisation, you will play a pivotal role in transforming how we leverage data to optimise our operations and unlock value. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to understand their challenges and opportunities, driving the development of a data-centric culture across The Crown Estate. Your mission will be to deliver innovative solutions that democratise data for our colleagues and partners, empowering them to achieve strategic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Define and implement a cutting-edge Data Science, Analytics, and Visualisation Strategy.
  • Lead and inspire a team of approximately six talented professionals.
  • Collaborate with the Data Leadership Team to support the delivery of our strategy and OKRs.
  • Represent the data team's accomplishments and address challenges across the enterprise.
  • Balance short-term impact with long-term capability building over the next three years.
  • Engage stakeholders across the business to embed data-driven decision-making in daily operations.
  • Help develop our overall data ecosystem and deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Guide our journey towards AI/ML and GenAI adoption, ensuring the right skills, technology, and policies are in place.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Data Science and Analytics.
  • Lead working groups and forums to drive engagement and collaboration.
  • Identify and unlock value through data-based decision-making and visualisation.

Management:

  • Manage the team with integrity, inclusion, and empathy, ensuring all members are valued and have clear objectives.
  • Implement metrics to demonstrate improvements in data-based decision-making.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to ensure team success.
  • Support and encourage the team through data transformation initiatives.

Data Science and Analytics Team Deliverables:

  • Demonstrate measurable improvements in decision-making and efficiency.
  • Show the economic, social, and environmental impact of our data initiatives.
  • Embed data decisioning into everyday working practices.
  • Align team efforts with overall data priorities and ensure transparency in plans and roadmaps.
  • Build customer-centric and business value-focused solutions.

Skills & Experience:

  • Hands-on technical background as a Data Science and Analysis SME with proven experience in developing and implementing high-quality data solutions in a matrixed organisation.
  • Demonstrable success in leading data science, analytics, and visualisation teams.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and ability to link analytical solutions to business outcomes.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and staying abreast of industry best practices.
  • Team player with the ability to influence and drive direction.
  • Leadership skills to guide teams through change and inspire positive outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially under pressure and through change.
