As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.

Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a NDT Technician. This role will involve carrying out NDT inspections on cast, forged or wrought products and generate associated documentation.

Role Responsibilities


  • Carry out inspection on castings, welds and forged or wrought products as required, using various methods (UT, VT, MT or PT).


  • Ensure that all products are tested in accordance with the written procedures and fully comply with the technical requirements.


  • Record all inspections carried out and certify using the NDT reporting system.


  • Produce accurate reports.

  • Produce excavation sketches (paper or digital).

  • Assist with the preparation of documents to meet customer requirements.

  • Perform NDT in all areas within the company (Machine Shops, Forge, Foundry, Rolls etc.) and off-site as and when required. Be willing to travel within the UK and aboard if requested.

  • Provide NDT time estimates for costing purposes.

  • Carry out Hardness testing of cast and forged items.


About You

The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.


  • Experience working in a similar role is essential.


  • Knowledge of metal processing routes including, casting, forging, heat treatment, mechanical testing and welding.


  • Good IT skills, including: Microsoft Word and Excel at a basic level.


  • Experience of working alongside external visitors, inspectors & customers.


  • Good understanding of technical drawings & NDE procedures.


  • Experience of preparing and writing reports with a good level of attention to detail.


  • Willingness to travel within the UK and abroad, as required.
