About The Role

We are seeking a Graduate or an early careers professional with an interest in Collision Investigation to join our Forensic Investigations team.

You will learn everything from incoming enquiries through to full collision investigation with the opportunity to become an expert witness.

The Forensic Investigations team encompasses all aspects of TRL’s collision investigation activities, covering legal investigations, expert witness work, and collision research activities for Government and industry.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and allocate new cases within the team, ensuring timely and efficient workflows. Engage with clients to understand their needs and offer insights on best practices for investigation approaches. Cultivate and strengthen relationships with clients across the industry, fostering trust and TRL’s reputation as an industry leader. Uphold high ethical standards in all aspects of work, managing sensitive information with the utmost discretion and professionalism. Assist lead investigators by liaising with police departments, clients, and other stakeholders, arranging and attending inspections, and contributing to analysis as required. Conduct vehicle examinations and participate in site visits to collect critical data for collision investigations, documenting findings meticulously. Enrol in and complete the UCPD in forensic road collision course, building foundational knowledge and technical expertise.

Skills & Experience

Qualification to degree level in related subjects such as Forensic Science, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Biomechanics, Physics or Maths. Other degree subjects will be considered, along with experience in a related field. Interest in, or prior experience/knowledge of collision investigation. Excellent written and verbal communication skill, capable of translating complex technical details into clear, concise explanations for various audiences.  Proven ability to manage competing priorities, working effectively with clients, team members, and managers to meet project demands. Demonstrated commitment, attention to detail, and initiative in delivering high-quality investigative work. Willingness to work across the UK, with potential out-of-hours availability based on case requirements. Possession of a full UK driving license, as travel to various sites is essential.
