The vacancy

DN Colleges Group is looking to appoint a Transactional Finance Manager to join its Finance department.

This is an exciting time of expansion and growth for the Group, that operates from two Colleges, Doncaster College and North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe and two HE Campuses, UCD in Doncaster and UCNL in Scunthorpe. DNCG will be able to provide you with the opportunity to develop your career and contribute to our ongoing success.

This role will take responsibility for all monetary transactions coming in and out of the College Group. The role will be responsible for invoicing, sales ledger / credit control, cash / bank transactions and purchase ledger. Responsibilities will also include leadership and coaching of the team, ownership of the integrity of the GL and associated reconciliations, managing internal controls, process improvements, cash flow forecasting and driving the month end close of the ledgers and associated reporting / analysis.

You will be an enthusiastic, pro-active hands-on finance professional, who is comfortable getting involved in various areas of College finance, and will work with both non-financial academic colleagues as well as other business service colleagues

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to develop and maintain solid working relationships to provide key information to assist in financial management and satisfy audit requirements.

You will need to demonstrate excellent numeracy and literacy skills with attention to detail and be able to manage competing priorities whilst working under pressure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing detailed, good quality financial information in order to enhance decision making, enable delivery of strategic initiatives and improve financial performance.

You will hold or be in the process of completing a relevant accounting qualification and have prior experience in managing the sales, purchase and general ledger processes. With an in-depth understanding of financial processes, you will also have excellent IT skills (Excel) and understand finance software.

You should be self-motivated and analytical, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, and ideally have experience working within further education. Successful candidates will be expected to travel between the two sites.
