Job summary

At Independent Health Group (IHG) we prideourselves on the quality of care we offer our patients. All the work we undertake is for the NHS. We are looking for a Theatre Health Care Assistantfor our Gloucester service, based at Aspen Medical Centre. As a Health Care Assistant, you will havea background and experience in theatre, outpatients or recovery.

This role is 25 hours per week, with hours worked between Monday and Friday, so there is no evening working, and nor dowe operate on bank holidays.In addition to a competitive salary, IndependentHealth Group also offers a generous pension contribution of 6% of yourearnings.

Main duties of the job

As a Theatre Heath Care Assistant(HCA) you will support the patient through their procedure, providing a high standardof individualised patient care as part of the clinical team. TheHCA will attend to the peri-operative needs of the patients, under the directmanagement of a Registered Practitioner.

You will help maintain an environment that isconducive to the delivery of a high standard of individualised, holistic andsafe patient care, and to the establishment of good communications betweenstaff, patients and other visitors.

Job responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

Working in accordance with IHGsvalues, policies and procedures, the HCA will provide high quality care topatients by Supporting with setting upand packing away the clinical and recovery rooms at the start and finish of theday. Assisting the patient and attendingto their physical comfort before, during and after their procedure. Performing and reportingclinical observation of a patients temperature, pulse, respiration rate andblood pressure (following completion of appropriate training). Observing and reporting changes in a patientscondition to the Registered Practitioner or Clinician. Communicating effectivelywith patients, ensuring patient understanding, comfort and well-being. Recording patientinformation accurately and in a timely fashion using manual or computer systemsand maintaining the confidentiality of that information. Assisting in maintaining aclean, safe work environment. Assisting with maintaining ofstock levels, ensuring replacement stock is ordered. Taking responsibility forown development and learning Ensuring we deliver thebest care possible by always looking for things we can improve on and reportingany adverse incidents. Assisting the clinician andthe patient in the Outpatient clinic.Performing pre-list checksand ensuring the documentation is available ICP and X-rays Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Broad general education to evidence written and verbal communication skills Committed to continuous personal development. Willing to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery

Desirable

NVQ level 2 in health and social care/Care Certificate, or willing to train to this level

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Understands the factors that influence good clinical care. Able to communicate with patients, answer questions and put them at ease A good team worker, but also able to work independently. Able to maintain accurate patient records Basic computer skills, including clinical systems SystmOne

Personal Competencies

Essential
