Job summary

Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist Post in ChildDevelopment Centre.

Fixed term for one year to cover maternity and waiting timesinitiative.

Base: Kimberworth Place, Kimberworth Road, Rotherham S61 1HE (5 mins fromMeadowhall shopping centre).

An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Speech & Language Therapist in ourfriendly and innovative Child Development Centre team.

We are looking for adynamic SLT to provide assessment, advice and intervention for children withSEND and Autism. The post holder would ideally have experience working with Children with Autism,SEND and Developmental speech and Language delays/disorders and preferably haveexperience working in a school and CDC environments collaboratively workingwith educational and health professionals to help meet the individual Childsholistic needs.

Rotherham has friendly and dynamic Therapy and CDC departments.The departments offer a formal mentoring, peer support and a Personal DevelopmentReview system which ensures that training and learning needs can be identifiedand met appropriately.

To be a part of the MDT team, to work alongside the Consultant Paediatricianand the highly specialist team of Speech and Language Therapists assessingChildren referred to the CDC.To work in partnership with other members of the CDC team and partners.

Main duties of the job

Work independently and in collaboration with other membersof the multi-disciplinary team to provide Speech and Language Therapy supportwithin the CDC and early years settings, negotiating complex case managementdecisions with team members, other professionals and Parents/Carers.

To provide Speech and Language therapy assessment andsupport to the Consultant Paediatrician and Nurse Practitioners in new team andfollow up appointments.

Provide appropriate intervention, set and monitor care aimsand evaluate outcomes throughout therapy. Ensure that Children/Carers and staffunderstand the nature and purpose of proposed therapy and that they areinvolved in the planning, prioritisation and evaluation of their care planswherever possible.

To liaise with early year settings and schools in thedevelopment of management targets and intervention plans for the Children onthe caseload.

To have skills in using Alternative and AugmentativeCommunication (AAC) and feeding and swallowing disorders.

Work collaboratively with education professionals (Teachers,Communication Assistants) and promote effective working between the CDC, SLTdepartment and early years and schools settings.

To integrate speech, language and communication targets intothe Childs support plan and contribute to the EHC plan.

Speech and Language Therapy Degree HCPC registered Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the county and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
