This is an exciting opportunity to join our Customer and Building Safety team.

You will be responsible for providing operational lead for the building safety and compliance function. You will deputise for the Head of Customer and Building Safety and line manage 3 Compliance Managers who oversee, asbestos, water hygiene, gas and fire safety ensuring all our buildings are safe and compliant with legislation, regulation and best practice. You will act as the technical lead alongside your team in the delivery of these functions.

You will provide a customer-centric service and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuous engagement. You will also ensure, through your team, that consultants and contractors are performing in line with requirements and are compliant with Health & Safety regulations.

Key tasks include:

  • Management of statutory and non-statutory compliancy servicing contracts across the following areas: Fire, Legionella, Asbestos and Gas services
  • Ensuring statutory compliance is managed and monitored effectively, taking a solution focussed approach, removing risk to the company and our customers where possible and identifying and implementing mitigation where complete removal is not possible.
  • Promoting compliance and building safety requirements and identify training needs throughout the business.
  • To assist the Head of Building and Customer Safety with the effective leadership and management of the statutory compliance function
  • To develop and produce regular assurance reports for the LT, Building Safety Task Force (BSTF) and senior managers.
  • To undertake a programme of compliance audits, utilising both internal teams and external auditors/consultants ensuring outcomes and learnings are communicated in line with our Governance framework.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that financial controls are being adhered to and followed, monitoring budget expenditure and reporting variances.
  • As complaint handler within the business, ensure complaints are investigated, and responded to within published timescales. Investigate learning outcomes, share within the team and incorporate into policies and procedures as required.
  • To assist in the development of Policies and Procedures as required, identifying any gaps and reporting to the Head of Building & Customer Safety on considerations for improvement.

You'll need to have:

  • Extensive experience managing a compliance and/or building safety team
  • Proven track record of managing statutory compliance contracts and consultancy services with significant knowledge and proven track record of procurement activity
  • Significant experience of risk management and its application in a performance management setting
  • Ability to understand and analyse reports to provide accurate and relevant advice to key stakeholders, including colleagues and customers and the Leadership Team
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing project budgets and controlling expenditure.
  • Excellent oral and written communications
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, relevant software, and accurate recording for audit purposes.
  • Ability to work to our PRIDE values and leadership behaviours.
  • Driving License and access to own vehicle
