GSL Education’s South Shields branch is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for passionate educators to join our client schools as History Teachers for the September 2024 term. The ideal candidate will have a deep enthusiasm for history and a strong commitment to student success. As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and insightful history lessons, helping students develop a deeper understanding of the past and its relevance to the present.
History Teacher Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver high-quality history lessons that align with curriculum standards and inspire student interest in historical events and themes.
- Create and implement lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that accommodate diverse learning needs and foster critical thinking.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, inquiry, and a love of history.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and support to enhance learning outcomes.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and technologies to create dynamic and engaging lessons.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices in history education and contribute to the wider school community.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and extracurricular activities as required.
History Teacher Qualifications:
- Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Bachelor’s degree in history, History Education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Be able to provide two professional references from within the last two years that relate to your teaching.
- A committed educator who understands how to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with special educational needs.
- Strong knowledge of history curriculum, standards, and best practices in history education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
- Possess an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to have one processed immediately.
