Advanced Clinical Pharmacist

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. This is a fixed term position of 8 months.

The shift pattern is Monday to Friday with participation in, weekend, extended hours and public holiday rotas as per service requirements.

Advanced Clinical Pharmacist - Neurosciences, OMFS & Spinal

A rare opportunity has arisen for a dynamic pharmacist to join the existing Neuro-pharmacy team in the Institute of Neurological Sciences (INS), based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. The Institute of Neurological Sciences (INS) is a tertiary regional service providing care to patients requiring neurological care, neuro-critical care, neurosurgical intervention, oral maxillofacial surgery, and management of spinal cord injury. With over 200 inpatients beds you will provide highly specialist pharmaceutical advice to medical and nursing staff working closely with the MDT, identification of financial impact and horizon scanning of new medicines to the Regional Services Directorate, as well as specialist clinical pharmacy input to the Health Board and at a national level across NHS Scotland.

Working together with the Lead Pharmacist for patient services you will be responsible for the development of clinical pharmacy services to the INS, delivering and supporting innovative practice and pharmacist led clinics. You will be working as an advanced clinical practitioner within this speciality.

You’ll need confidence and enthusiasm for multidisciplinary working as an integral member of the team and should demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. A postgraduate pharmacy qualification and registered independent prescribing qualification are essential.

The hours will be Monday to Friday with participation in, weekend, extended hours and public holiday rotas as per service requirements. If you think you have the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for this post, or for an
