Job Purpose

As a Process Operator, your primary responsibility is to oversee the operation of machinery and equipment used in the production process. You will ensure that all processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely, adhering to established protocols and standards. Your role is crucial in maintaining product quality, minimising downtime, and maximising production output.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate Machinery: Control and monitor machinery and equipment involved in the production process. Follow standard operating procedures and ensure all tasks are carried out in a safe manner. It is the responsibility of the Process Operator to ensure that:
    • any maintenance issues with the machinery are reported to the Maintenance department and then followed through to completion.
    • all in process Quality checks are carried out thoroughly and accurately to the agreed procedure and frequency
    • all production paperwork and documentation is maintained and completed accurately and on time
    • all tasks are fully risk assessed and SOPs or Task Instructions are written and trained for all tasks – work with the Production Team Leader
    • material usage is recorded accurately, and stock control is reconciled and reported to the Supply Chain department
    • any training needs identified by the Company are undertaken and completed
    • material repacks and offline re-inspections are completed when required
    • production trials are conducted and contributed to when required and work cross-functionally to achieve production trial objectives
    • yield, output and production schedule targets are met   
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of products to ensure they meet quality standards. Identify any deviations or defects and take corrective actions to resolve issues promptly.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. Maintain a clean and organised work environment, and report any safety hazards or concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Process Optimisation: Continuously look for opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity in the production process. Collaborate with colleagues and cross functionally to implement process enhancements and best practices.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate workflow and address any issues or concerns that may arise during the production process.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies related to production operations, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting machinery and equipment used in the production process. Knowledge of relevant technologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to perform tasks with precision and accuracy, especially in quality control and equipment operation. Vigilance in monitoring processes for any signs of deviation or malfunction.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Teamwork: Capacity to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments, priorities, and demands. Willingness to learn new skills and technologies as needed.
  • Safety Consciousness: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for oneself and others. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations, and the ability to adhere to them rigorously.
  • Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to convey information, instructions, and feedback accurately and professionally.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet production deadlines and objectives.
