Associate Freelance Chief Examiner, Reviser and Scrutiniser Positions - Remote Working

Are you a Practising Lawyer looking to develop a new skill set? A specialist consultant who has been in Practise? Or a course Tutor wishing to use your subject knowledge to develop assessment materials? 

At CILEX, we’re always on the lookout for highly competent industry experts to help write, review and scrutinise a range of assessment materials across a variety of units. 

Our Chief Examiners are responsible for the production of fair, valid and fit-for-purpose assessment materials (question papers, marks schemes and case study materials for practice papers) in accordance with CILEX requirements.

Our Reviserscomplete a critical, professional review of the first draft of the assessment materials produced by the Chief Examiner and ensure the materials provide a fair and valid measurement of the learning outcomes, assessment criteria and curriculum coverage.

Our Scrutinisers review the proposed assessment materials in order to verify their suitability from a candidate’s perspective, completing the Script Review (SRF) Form to record any concerns and recommendations in preparation for the Assessment Record Meeting, in which all draft exam materials are signed off. 

CILEX currently offer assessment in the following subject areas, delivered across a number of levels, regulated qualifications, apprenticeships and products:

You will need (all positions): 

Essential Experience 

Level 6 or Level 7 legal qualification from a university in England or Wales or those who have progressed through the CILEX routeAt least 2 years’ recent experience within the legal sector. Recent experience of complying with the SRA or CILEX Code of Conduct. 

Desirable Experience

Experience in producing, reviewing or critiquing assessment in the legal sector Experience with Microsoft products, including Teams, SharePoint and WordSupervisory/management experience in legal practiceExperience of working with a membership or professional body, awarding body, training provider or CPD providerA current of former Practicing experience a good understanding of assessment principlesexcellent interpersonal and communication skills.
