We areseeking a highly motivated electrically biased professional individual to workto assist a multi -skilled team of tradespersons in carrying out themaintenance of building services, plant and equipment within a range ofhealthcare buildings.

The Electrical Technician is a member of the newLPT Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) team and will carry out withminimum supervision, maintenance, fault finding, repairs and installation workon all facilities, plant and equipment throughout the Leicestershire PartnershipNHS Trust estate and will also act as the Trust representative in the absenceof the Supervisor or when requested to do so as and when the need arises byline management.

Working on the full range of Estates Services equipment,the Electrical Technician will undertake activities which require comparison ofa range of options, complex facts requiring analysis to resolve technicalissues in on multifaceted equipment/situations many of which have a directimpact on patient safety and the built environment.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment including various voltage systems, steam raising plant and associated equipment, steam sterilizers, medical gas systems, nurse call systems, lighting, fire detection, building services controls, standby generator plant, heating and ventilation control systems and refrigeration plant. Manufacture, design, assemble, erect andinstall new work often using own judgement regarding a range of complexequipment, requiring accuracy and precision. Responsible for undertaking condition surveys, evaluating inspection reports and maintenance repairs, improvement and capital work across the Trust as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures. Providing an emergency out of hours service, working a rotating shift pattern covering 365 days a year subject to appropriate negotiations. Required to act within the constraints of national, local and Trust-wide policies, protocols and best practice guidance and be guided by these but will need to establish the way in which these should be interpreted.

Essential

Responsive and customer focused. Excellent communication skills both verbal and in written format. Skilled and experienced negotiator. Ability to work independently and without supervision. Adaptable to change. Knowledge of various Health and Safety legislation as applicable to core trade, ensuring the well being of staff, patients and visitors. Judgement is required regarding a range of facts and situations that require analysis where there is more than a straightforward choice of options regarding required work. Knowledge of and ability to carry out minor works of other trades after attending appropriate training. Experience of working on breakdowns and PPM on technical mechanical, steam raising, and electrical plant found in a hospital environment. Experience of working on new installations, control systems, plant and equipment breakdowns, fault finding, rectifications and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of technical mechanical, steam raising and electrical plant and equipment found in a typical complex engineering or healthcare environment. Well organised and ability to analyse highly complex and technical facts or situations and exercise a high level of judgment in arriving at decisions. Qualifications

Essential

HND or equivalent experience or willing to work towards a HND City & Guilds 232 or 236 or 205 Course 596 Plumbing Advanced Certificate Or Course 569 Plumbing Craft Certificate Or Equivalent NVQ Level 3 Craft Certificate Completion of recognised and registered CITB or EITB apprenticeship Evidence of continuing professional and managerial development. Professional membership of an appropriate body.

Desirable
