JobSummary:

The role willenable you to utilise the full range of enforcement tools to tacklesubstandard private rented accommodation within the Borough fromHMO Licensing improvement notices to Final Management Orders andBanningOrders.

You will alsobe expected to promote the use of grants and landlord accreditationas an alternative or complementary approach all with the aim ofimproving the private housing sector in the borough with particularemphasis on the private rented sector.

KeyDuties/Accountabilities:

Demonstrate abasic understanding of our role in improving standards within theprivate rentedsector.

Contributetowards the key objectives of the serviceby:

Undertake HMOlicensing inspections including identification of defects poormanagementpractices.

Identify andsecure interventions in the investigation of complaints and otherenquiries and understand the situations where any intervention maynot berequired.

Effectivelymonitor the progress of works/actions required by informal/formalaction.

Demonstrategood customer care and communication skills in explaining complexand technical issues accurately clearly and concisely both orallyand in writing when dealing with all serviceusers.

Develop a goodunderstanding of relevant legislation utilised to tackle poorproperty and management standards within the private rentedsector.

Demonstrate agood understanding of housing construction and components and an upto date understanding of improvement trends and capabilitiesincluding those around energyefficiency.

Ability to takean organised approach to own workload whilst dealing withconflicting priorities and ensuring a customer service focusedapproach.

Willing to gainexperience of working collaboratively with internal and externalpartners to identify innovative and creative approaches tocomplaints and Camdenobjectives.

Demonstrateyour involvement in organising coordinating and participating onprojects as part of a team and identify how this has led to asuccessfuloutcome.

Knowledge ofand ability to manage sensitive intelligence and informationsecurely.

Understandimportance of accurate data entry in relation to updatingmanagement information systems and the consequential impact onbusiness intelligence for theservice.

Demonstrate anawareness of politically sensitiveissues.

EssentialQualificationsRequired:

BTEC inEnvironmental Health BTEC/ONC in Building Construction orequivalent or relevant work experienceor

AdvancedPractical Certificate in the Private RentedSector

Diploma inPrivate Sector HousingInterventions

Works towards(but not yet completed) Environmental HealthDegree
