Applications are invited for a Consultant in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicineat Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work alongside the existing 1.8 WTE substantive Consultant Rheumatologists.

The successful candidate would be dual accredited in a Rheumatology and General InternalMedicine.

The proposed AAC date is 06/03/2024.

Main duties of the job

The post is offered at 10 PA but under the terms of the 2003 Consultant Contract, candidates who wish to conduct private practice would be required to offer an additional programmed activity. The postholder will be expected to undertake 2 programmed activities (PAs) of Supporting Professional Activity per week and 8 programmed activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care, 3.5 of which will be Rheumatology Out patient clinics and 1 PA on Acute medical unit. There is the opportunity for a successful candidate to take on additional PAs (DCC and SPA) following mutual agreement with the Specialty Clinical Lead and Associate Medical Director.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The appointee will take a share of the Consultant responsibilities within the Division whichinclude:

Be actively involved in the leadership, management and decision making within the Departments Be readily available during the working week so that medical and nursing staff can communicate and consult freely Ensure that management plans are clearly displayed in the notes of patients with complex needs Liaise closely with the Divisional and Service Managers, and the Associate Medical Director, to ensure that waiting list targets are achieved. Share with Consultant colleagues the responsibility for providing clinical services for the local population Foster relationships between staff within the each organisation, and also with the local Clinical ICB Group

Essential

Full GMC Registration and a Licence to Practise and CCT or within 6 months of obtaining CCT Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in rheumatology and GIM

Additional higher degrees relevant to this post

Experience and Ability
Essential

Extensive experience in rheumatology and general internal medicine Advanced communication skills

Desirable

Training in Musculoskeletal ultrasound Experienced in working with Rheumatology MDT teams

Audit and Research

Relevant experience in clinical audit Examples of QIP design and implementing change

Participation in NIHR trials Higher research degree

Teaching and Education

Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning.

Desirable

Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Educational Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC Recognised teaching skills course. Special interest in role development and staff training. Membership of relevant medical associations/learned societies.
