HMP Berwyn is a Category C male training prison with a remand facility. Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) provide healthcare services for the men including Clinical Psychology services. BCUHB strive to provide equivalent, though not identical, services to men in custody to that provided in the community. Clinical Psychology services are currently provided alongside the Mental Health and Learning Disability (MH&LD) Team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our team. We are looking for a candidate who has excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working with people experiencing mental health difficulties, particularly those from marginalised social groups. They need to have a commitment to clinical excellence and the desire to develop within a custodial environment. They need to be able to work confidently under supervision, can follow direction, have the ability to workin teams, and are adaptable and responsive to the needs of the service they are working in. Our commitment to you is to provide opportunity for to develop professionally within a committed and supportive service, and play an important role in supporting increasing access to psychological therapies within HMP Berwyn.
Main duties of the job
Under supervision, the post-holders will learn and support psychological interventions with awareness of stepped care and guidance such as Matrics Cymru; interventions include those based on mentalisation and cognitive behaviour therapy. The post will be supervised by a qualified clinical psychologist. The post will also involve supporting service evaluations, audits, andprojects. You will be expected to contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings and other meetings as appropriate.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
