About the Role Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre is looking to welcome someone into our dispensary team in our busy practice, to play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. This part-time role is for hours a week, working days Monday and Friday.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

Processing all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions, as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses, where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme; Ensuring that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor;
Collecting all due prescription charges and ensuring that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient; Processing hospital letters; Processing dossette boxes; Managing the ordering of stock and stock control; Preparation of monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau; Answering and dealing with dispensary phone enquiries; Monitoring patients’ exemption statuses; Sorting and disposing of unwanted/returned medication; Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery, as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager. You will have the following skills and experience:

Previous experience in a medical setting; Excellent listening skills, interpersonal and telephone skills; Ability to prioritise and work under pressure; Friendly and approachable; Adaptable, versatile and flexible; The commitment to continue to learn new skills and develop your career; The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making; The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach; Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills; Willingness to provide extra cover when required. About Us Hoveton & Wroxham Medical Centre is a well-established, semi-rural practice with a patient population of over 10,000. We are a 6-doctor dispensing practice and we pride ourselves on how our teams work together to provide a high-quality, effective, efficient and reliable service to our practice population. We treat our patients with respect, dignity and the upmost care and compassion, and are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our services. We are a teaching practice involved in training GPs and medical students from the UEA. Our aim is for all those working at the practice to feel valued, respected and mutually supported.
