We are looking for a full or part-time phlebotomist, with some additional clinical administrative duties.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced Phlebotomist. All applicants will be expected to take bloods as the main part of their role, but may also be required to take height and weight measurements and BP readings. The role will also include preparation of bloods and other samples for daily collection, and re-stocking of clinical rooms and stock ordering.

Experience of working within a General Practice environment would be an advantage, although not essential.

Hours will be between 9 - 2pm for a minimum of 3 days a week (flexible). There will be the option of working additional hours on a Wednesday evening 6-8 pm or Saturday and Sunday mornings if wanted.

About us

South Hermitage Surgery is a traditional GP practice with a population of just under 9000 patients, based in a leafy Shrewsbury suburb.

We are a small, friendly team of around 30 staff in total. Our clinical team comprises of GPs, Nursing team including Nurse Practitioners and Healthcare Assistant and we have recently added a Clinical Pharmacist to our team. They are supported by our wonderful team of receptionists, secretaries, coders and administrators. We are also a member practice of Shrewsbury Primary Care Network, working together with 15 other local practices which brings a wider range of services to our patients, and additional job opportunities for our staff.

Job Responsibilities:

Undertake daily phlebotomy clinics Recording and updating patient data such as height, weight, smoking status, health & well-being needs, including contacting patients with missing data. Perform blood pressure checks following Practice protocol Processing and management of bloods and laboratory samples as requested by GPs/nurses in a timely manner for daily collection Chaperoning duties Surgical equipment, medical consumables and vaccine ordering, re-stocking and stock rotation Take an active involvement in infection control monitoring and compliance Check internal emails, NHS emails and Emis tasks on a daily basis, completing any tasks in a timely fashion To work in accordance of written protocols and keep abreast of changes Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English Grade C or above Good general secondary education Phlebotomy certificate

Desirable

NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care HCA Care Certificate
