Job Introduction

An opportunity has become available for a Telecoms Analyst within the National Grid Telecoms team based in in either Taunton or Castle Donington..

You will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of National Grid Telecoms management reports and be pro-active in providing insightful observations or trends for use by Telecoms management. You will be expected to work with other NGED teams as well as engagement with external stakeholders including UK Government department DSIT and industry regulator Ofcom.

You will be responsible for having oversight of all Telecoms activities and other strategic initiatives across the Telecoms team.

You will be required to occasionally present the data and observed insights at all levels of management, be confident in handling, complex data and deliver work to a high standard whilst meeting set deadlines.

As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.

*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

Main responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role are varied and will include the following:

Assist the Telecoms Manager to ensure delivery of requested data reports providing data analysis for the Telecoms team. Understand business goals and objectives to provide insight and a narrative of collated Telecoms data. Assist the Telecoms Management team to deliver and respond to external reporting requirements, including preparation of licence condition reporting and submissions to Ofcom. Be a super user of business information tools such as, Crown, PowerBI, MS Excel & MS Access, Webfocus, etc. Undertake ad hoc reporting or analysis as well as data quality assurance work, including auditing, as required. Monitoring of all Telecoms related activities and reconciling the interdependencies that exist between them.

Ideal candidate

You will be required to carry out data analysis across all parts of the National Grid Telecoms business, including Network Performance, Efficiencies and Project Delivery to name a few, results will need to analysed, presented and then reported on through to delivery.

Be able to communicate effectively both verbally, and in writing, with customers and other team members and must be able to represent the company positively at all times.

You must be reliable, well organised and be able to work as part of a small team and work using your own initiative. Possession of basic keyboard skills is essential and full training will be given on the applications used.

Candidates ideally educated to level 5 and be numerically analytically excellent, with proven experience within functional activity, preferably with numeracy/statistical data extraction/presentation. Comprehensive understanding of National Grid Telecoms and the services it provides would be desirable.

To meet national security vetting requirements you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years for Security Clearance (SC) prior to the date of application.
