An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior solicitor or associate solicitor within our busy Personal Injury Team in our Edinburgh city centre office.  The successful candidate will join a team of solicitors and trainee solicitors and will run their own litigated and/or complex personal injury files, as well as playing a key role in developing strategy and shaping the future of the office.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Handling their own case load, of litigated and pre-litigated files which will have an element of complexity to them:
    • Investigating and assessing liability and causation,
    • Instructing appropriate experts and assessing and quantifying solatium,
    • Reviewing financial losses and gathering evidence,
    • Drafting all relevant court documents,
    • Pro-actively progressing a claim through litigation to proof,
    • Having good financial awareness of progressing cases to settlement,
    • Advising your client throughout on all aspects of the above.
  • Assisting others in the department, including assisting with, or providing training.
  • Supervising junior solicitors, trainee solicitors and paralegals.
  • Complying with agreed service standards.
  • Communicating effectively with clients, insurers, expert witnesses and solicitors.
  • Work effectively as a leader and member of a larger team.


Skills/Competencies required:

This would suit an applicant who has a proven track record of handling pursuer RTA/Public & Occupier Liability injury claims from CPAP through to proof, and have excellent forensic analysis and legal research skills.  Previous experience of pursuer PI RTA work, and litigation experience is essential.  Non motor injury experience is desirable, including clinical negligence.

You will be a team player with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, have the ability to use your own initiative as well as work well within a team and to work to strict deadlines, within service standards.  You should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
