Job Description

AECOM’s Sustainable Development Group are leaders in the field of Decentralised Energy, including District Heating, District Cooling, Renewables and energy storage.

The team specialises in low carbon sustainable energy network design and decarbonisation, from initial opportunity identification, feasibility, business case development and design to commercialization,  procurement support, construction support and post construction monitoring. We have a significant number of projects across UK&I and globally within the Middle East and Europe. We also heavily support UK government in the delivery of a variety of schemes, including being technical advisors on both the HNIP and GHNF grant schemes alongside heat network Zoning.

One of our key service lines is district heating and we are currently looking to grow our team. Currently we have a requirement for a Principal Engineer with a particular focus on technical leadership and delivery. We are looking for someone with an excellent grasp of the UK energy market, and how buildings, estates, towns and cities can be decarbonized and how DH network can be designed and deployed at scale.

The role offers a great opportunity for career progression for a candidate showing passion, technical ability and leadership skills.

Job Duties

  • Lead the technical delivery of heat network projects alongside decarbonisation, energy efficiency and renewable technology
  • Lead in the delivering DPD and Feasibility projects;
  • Acting as technical lead for projects, guiding engineers towards the successful completion of projects
  • Designing DH systems

Examples of the Skills Sought

  • A good understanding of the UK energy market
  • To be the technical lead for the design stage of DH projects
  • Knowledge of Heat Networks and HNDU scope of work
  • Knowledge of renewables (PV etc)and low carbon heating technologies
  • Knowledge of energy storage, EV and Micro grids
  • Knowledge of building services, their design and operational requirements including controls and utilities and commissioning

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience of delivering DH Design / Energy Option Studies / Energy Audits / Decarbonisation strategies
  • Track record of project delivery from concept stage through to operation ideal

Preferred Qualifications

  • MEng / BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • CEng status would be beneficial
