Job summary

We are looking for a Static Band 6 Orthopaedic Physiotherapist to join our therapy team.

We have a permanent post for full time working at hours ( per week. The successful candidate will be expected to work on the therapy seven day working rota as well as being part of the on call service.

The successful candidate must have experience relevant to the position and a clinical interest in this area to be able to apply.

We can offer you training opportunities to develop your specialist skills in line with your PDR. We also have leadership training opportunities available as well courses funded externally.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would be providing highly skilled physiotherapy assessment and treatment to orthopaedic inpatients across both Watford General and St Albans City Hospital including elective, trauma and fractured neck of femur patients.

The successful candidate will join a growing integrated team of OT's and Physio's and will have the opportunity to develop both their clinical and supervisory skills. The post holder will be responsible for delivering excellent Orthopaedic care and contributing to service development projects. Excellent clinical reasoning and therapy handling skills are a prerequisite for this post.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will need to be confident in managing elective, trauma and fractured neck of femur patients

Applicants will need to be confident in their ability to work in a team of Physiotherapy staff and willing to work collaboratively in relation to service provision and offer cover to the wider therapy team. The post holder would also have a role in supporting the service training programme for developing competence of staff in managing orthopaedic patients.

Education and qualifications

Essential

Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or equivalent recognised by Health Care Professionals Council Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent Documented evidence of Continued Professional Development of expanded specialist skills

Desirable

Attendance at post graduate courses in relevant fields

Knowledge

Essential

Understanding of Physiotherapy structure in NHS Standards - Health Care Professions Council/ Chartered Society of Physiotherapy/ Local. Policies and Procedures (local Health and Safety). Ability to search and review evidence base. Understanding of clinical governance and the implications for the service. Evidence of written projects/audit.

Experience

Essential

Clinical problem-solving ability NHS experience Skill in physiotherapeutic techniques Highly developed physical skills, dexterity, coordination and sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients Willing to participate in emergency/on call duties Ability to assess patient conditions establish a diagnosis and formulate a specialised treatment plan, from a range of modalities

Desirable

Experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist in a broad rotational post Acute/Community Respiratory on-call/emergency experience

Ability to supervise others non-qualified staff, students on a day-to-day basis. Administration - statistical data collection, department tasks, patient records.
