We are a family club, a nursery, a restaurant, a co-work zone and much more.   We are based in the beautiful area of St John's Wood and have the privilege of being part of this community.  

Role Overview

We are looking for a Head Chef to lead our kitchen at Feast.  We are looking for someone who wants to help us develop our menu to offer a great service and experience to our guests.  We are a small kitchen, with a Nursery Chef and a sous Chef in the team.  You'll oversee the BOH operation and report into the Head of F&B.   As we are a family club there's no late nights as we close at 6.30pm so you'll definitely have a wonderful work life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • To help us develop our menu to offer a great brunch spot on the High Street.  
  • Manage the agreed food cost targets in line with the agreed budget
  • Carry out full monthly stock takes, as well as weekly line checks, and daily if required
  • Ensure the entire kitchen team are aware of their responsibilities in respect of health and safety in the workplace and always conform to all processes.
  • Ensure that the company food safety management system is in place and is fully understood by all the kitchen team, and that all compliance checks are being completed within the set time frames as per the FSMS
  • Responsible for all day-to-day on-site operations within the kitchen, including product availability, team performance, actioning of maintenance issues within a timely manner and ensures all business-critical issues are escalated immediately to ensure no healthy and safety breaches occur
  • Conducts documented performance reviews, as well as having regular check-ins with the team
  • Work with the Club Manager and Food and Beverage Manager to agree actions following on from any customer feedback, and report on corrective actions
  • Work with the wider Management Team to identify efficiencies through innovative working practice
  • Rota efficiently to ensure standards of the business are always maintained whilst being within budget, and that service standards are not compromised
  • Perform audits and assist the senior management team in implementing new procedures, developing efficient systems and processes to ensure a smooth running of the establishment
The ideal Head Chef will…
  • You will have worked as a Head Chef within a casual dining environment where food and service standards are paramount
  • Have some experience of recipe and menu creation and implementation.   We can support you in the this for the right person
  • You will have a proven track record of achieving a 5-star food hygiene rating
  • You will have a track record of improving and monitoring the performance standards of your team and will not tolerate almost as being good enough
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of stock control, budgets, labour controls, and forecasting
  • A hands-on style of management with the team is desirable
