The South West London Clinical Networks programme is run by the Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) in collaboration with the four APC Trusts and the SWL ICB. Clinical Networks bring together clinical, operational and management leaders from across the health and care system to look beyond organisational and service boundaries to ensure clinical best practice across whole patient pathways.
Gastroenterology
We are looking for an innovative and engaging primary care clinician to lead the Gastroenterology Clinical Network.
Interview Date: Week commencing 24th June 2024
Main duties of the job
The clinical co-lead works alongside a secondary care co-lead and network manager to drive improvement and promote clinical best practice across the whole pathway of care.
The role will suit an experienced leader who can:
build relationships across the system in order to understand, and balance, clinical and operational views on service improvement;
contribute their own significant clinical expertise and insight;
be ambitious and innovative about what can be achieved; and
be pragmatic about how it can be delivered.
The role is open to any primary care clinician currently practising in South West London; the successful applicant is not required have to have formal qualifications or training in gastroenterology, but given the role will be as clinical lead for the gastroenterology clinical network, applications from clinicians with particular specialty-level interest or experience are encouraged.
About us
On 1 July 2022, NHS South West London Integrated Care Board (ICB) was established. The ICB, as part of South West London Integrated Care System (ICS), is a partnership of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services to improve the lives of people in our six boroughs: Croydon, Merton, Kingston, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth.
Each ICS consists of two statutory elements:
an Integrated Care Board, bringing the NHS together with its partners locally to improve health and care services
an Integrated Care Partnership (ICP): the broad alliance of organisations and representatives concerned with improving the care, health and wellbeing of the population, jointly convened by the ICB and local authorities in the area.
ICBs are statutory NHS bodies responsible for planning and allocating resources to meet the four core purposes of integrated care systems (ICSs):
to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare;
tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access;
enhance productivity and value for money and;
help the NHS support broader social and economic development.
NHS South West London Integrated Care Board decides how the South West London NHS budget is spent and develops plans to improve people's health, deliver higher quality care, and better value for money

Ensure best clinical practice across patient pathways between primary, community
and secondary care,
Improve the efficiency and productivity of clinical services,
Strengthen the interface between primary and secondary care,
Implement digital technology to improve the patient pathway,
Transform outpatients to improve access for patients,
Implement change, learning from best practice nationally and regionally,
Contribute towards reducing inequities in care between groups and populations,
Work with SWL Place-based clinical leadership to implement consistent and standardised clinical pathways for patients,
Develop improvement proposals and seek opportunities for support from ICB,
regional and national bodies.

Education /Qualifications
Essential
1.Accredited healthcare professional 2.Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area. 3.Significant evidence of continued professional development 4.Current registration with relevant professional body GMC
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
and significant leadership experience as a clinical practitioner Board level experience of leading and delivering complex change and strategy development programmes in a politically sensitive and complex environment ranging knowledge and experience in clinical network area, sharing this with wider clinical and non-clinical colleagues to promote best practice 4.Significant management experience at senior level in the NHS or other public healthcare related industry 5.Significant experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing performance of the individuals
